But whatever the status of your love life, matters of the heart should be considered all year round. One You Leeds – Leeds’s free healthy lifestyle service delivered by Reed Wellbeing– is asking all local residents: “How healthy is your heart?”

Far beyond any romantic trials and tribulations, One You Leeds’s ‘5 Ways to a Healthy Heart’ campaign is challenging people to increase the health of their hearts by following these five steps:

1. Be smoke free
Not smoking is the best thing you can do for your heart and your health

2. Drink less
Keeping under 14 units per week will benefit your health and energy levels

3. Be more active
By keeping active for 30 minutes on most days, you can reduce your risk of stroke or heart disease by 35%

4. Eat more healthily
Eating healthily can prevent problems with blood pressure and cholesterol

5. Manage your weight
By losing just 5-10% of your weight, you will reduce the strain on your heart.

Whatever your age, doing any of the above steps can only be beneficial to the health of your heart – and to your health in general. But do you know what your heart age is?

You can find out how healthy your heart is by visiting oneyouleeds.co.uk/heart-age-tool – by answering a few simple questions, you’ll get a clearer picture of what your heart age is, and how you can take action to make it younger and healthier.

Free support

But you don’t have to do it alone. One You Leeds offers free support to Leeds residents wishing to lead a healthier lifestyle – and the more support you get, the better your chances of meeting your health goals. Did you know, for example, that by enlisting the support of experts like the Health Coaches at One You Leeds, you are three times more likely to give up smoking for good?

One You Leeds has a team of incredible Health Coaches who are experts in supporting people to get healthier. So if you want to do all of the above, or start with one and see how you get on, why not see how we can help you?
